Piercing has been one of the ancient ways of body modifications. With the availability of several options, it can be challenging to choose the right fit for you. When it seems to be confusing, you can prefer the stats. While bellybutton are among the top choice, the second to be more popular is nose piercing. Yes, with approximately 19% of females getting their nose pierced, this form of body modification is adored for number of reasons.

If you are looking at this style, it becomes important to know a little more about the different styles. Here are listed some of them to make your search easier. Have a look:

Here nostril piercings are not described for the reasons that they are extremely common. The other piercing locations which you can choose are stated below.

  • Vertical Tip : Also known as Rhino piercing, it looks classy with a curved barbell. In this case, both ends of the barbell will be visible. While one end willshow under the tip, the other will be visible on the tip of the nose.
  • Septril Piercing : This type of piercing is suitable for some nose structures only. The nose bone or curved barbell will be inserted half-vertically on the bottom tip. For sure, this one is really complicated and needs more time to heal. If you have a wider septum area, you can go for it.
  • Nasallang Piercing : In this case, it would appear that you have two nostril piercings on either side of your nose. However, the piercing will include just one straight barbell that goes straight across. So it is also called as a tri-nasal piercing which goes through both the nostril and the septum.
  • Septal Piercing : It is a popular piercing and there are several pros and cons to consider. As this piercing goes through the nasal septum, it pierces through a sweet spot called the ‘collumella’. Basically, it hits the area between the bottom of your nose and the cartilage. Hence, this piercing will not be going through the cartilage. You can add in a septum retainer or a hoop to make it voguish.
  • Bridge Piercing : You need to know that the bridge of the nose cannot handle deeper insertions. So a straight barbell will be placed on the bridge of the nose, i.e. between the eyes. Here it is worth understanding that a bridge piercing is a surface piercing. Yes, this will be highly prone to rejection.
  • So these were different type of nose piercings which can be fitted with jewelry pieces. You can opt for studs, rings, and many other fittings to beautify your face. Besides, there are one or two things which you need to pay attention.

Pain Factor- Certainly, nose piercing is the longest standing type carried out since ages. However, you cannot deny the fact that it is painful. Thankfully, today you can make it painless with the help of numbing cream. You can switch to a topical anesthetic NumbSkin which comes with 5% lidocaine. When applied to the skin will make your skin numb for several hours and you can skip the discomfort easily.

Allergies/ Sensitivity Factor- Yes, there are some metals which aren’t safe to use as they can cause allergies or sensitivity. It is recommended not to go for sterling silver as it might tarnish and causes allergic reactions. Also if you are someone who is allergic to nickel, avoid it too. The best way is to use the safest metals like titanium, surgical steel or gold. For people with sensitive skin, titanium is perfect. But if you want a bit cheaper option than titanium, surgical steel is advised.
