So you will find them occurring near the vermilion border, i.e. the border between the lip and adjacent skin. These are vertical fine lines which will be present around the mouth and are more prevalent on the upper lips.

And the same is true for smoker’s lines. Actually, as you grow older the production of much needed proteins, collagen and elastin decreases. In fact, it is believed that your skin start losing one percent of the collagen-producing ability every year starting from the age of 20.
4. Genetic: Sometimes it can due to your genes that your skin tends to appear older as compared to other people of same age. If you are distant descendants of Aphrodite, you will age gracefully will smooth, dewy skin. But for the rest, wrinkles are obvious thing. So, your skin type and the manner your skin ages will vary as per your genes. This is for those who have never smoked but still have got smoker’s lines. You can feel free to blame your DNA.
5. Diet: Whatever you eat reflects on your skin sooner or later. Therefore, if you are having too much of junk foods, it can lead to a lack of nutrients like necessary vitamins and minerals. And when your skin cells are not nourished adequately, they make an easier way easier for wrinkles such as smoker’s lines.
